MUZAFFARABAD :  Private schools in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) will remain closed tomorrow (Thursday) following a strike call by the Joint Awami Action Committee, ARY News reported.

According to details, the Jammu and Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee has announced an indefinite strike starting tomorrow (December 5).

The All Private Schools Association and the All Azad Kashmir Traders Association have declared their support for the strike, deciding to shut down schools and businesses in solidarity.

However, the Education Ministry of AJK has issued instructions for all government-run schools to remain open tomorrow.

Earlier in May, the Awami Joint Action Committee had called off ongoing protests against soaring inflation after the government agreed to their demands.

It’s worth mentioning that AJK has previously witnessed violent clashes between police and activists from the rights movement during a wheel-jam and shutter-down strike. These confrontations resulted in at least three fatalities and several injuries.
