PIA Ticket Prices Drop as IMF Waives Federal Excise Duty on International Flights

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) ticket prices are expected to decrease following the IMF’s approval to waive the Federal Excise Duty (FED) on international flights.

PIA ticket prices may see significant reductions, with passengers saving up to Rs. 350,000 on flights to the USA, Rs. 210,000 to Europe and Australia, and Rs. 105,000 to the Middle East and Africa. However, the waiver does not apply to domestic flights. Additionally, the IMF has removed the 18% sales tax on aircraft purchases or leases and approved the transfer of Rs. 46 billion in negative equity to a holding company.

These measures are expected to lower PIA ticket prices further, improve the airline’s financial stability, and attract investors amid ongoing privatization efforts. With these changes, PIA ticket prices will likely become more competitive, benefiting passengers and the airline’s overall operations.
